Day 12
Texas State Capitol

A nice view of the capitol building as you walk up the long sidewalk towards the doors.

This is the view from the beginning of the capitol sidewalk looking into downtown Austin.

A look up into the ornately decorated dome of the capitol.

The hallways are lined with portraits of former Texas governors.

Large pillars and polished marble floors are highlights of the building's decor.

One of the large stairways that take you up inside of the capitol's dome.

The inside of the chambers of the Texas House of Representatives.

Another look inside of the dome, and you can see that it says "Texas" in gold letters around the star in the center.

Looking down from the top floor you can see the star pattern inlaid in marble on the floor.

Another look at the large star in the center of the capital.

The balconies around the dome area of the capitol's center.

A look downward into the records area.

The Senate's chambers.

The ceiling of the House of Representative's chambers is composed of frosted glass.  You can't see it, but the lights on the chandeliers spell out "Texas" also.

This is just inside the front door of the building, and gives you another look at the rich decor inside.

A statue in front of the building pays tribute to Texas Rangers who gave their lives in service.

A memorial to those who gave their lives defending the Alamo.
