Balanced Rock


A distant view of Balanced Rock, which is off to the left in this picture.


This is Balanced Rock.  That boulder supposedly weighs 8000 lbs.


Cracks on the column underneath the boulder separated it from the rock structure, and created the sight we see today.


The view looking south from Balanced Rock.  I liked how this rock looks like it has a face carved in it, but the formation is completely natural.


Another look at that massive boulder balanced perfectly atop the rock column below.


The trails in Arches National Parks are marked by stacks of rocks balanced atop each other... Near Balanced Rock it appeared people had been practicing making these rock stacks.
