I woke up late at Jerry's place... While I was there I snapped a few pictures of a portion of his roommate's rather impressive collection of Hot Wheels cars.

We went off for some lunch, and then he had to go off to work, so I decided to hook up with a few other people from LS1.COM in Dallas.

I headed off to Plano to meet Jim (TAMUz28), and the plan was to meet up with a few others and go out for an evening of drinking....  So I hit Dallas about 4:30, smack dab in the middle of rush hour - which is actually good, because I want to get an idea of what commuting in this city would be like.

The first thing I discovered is that traffic, for the most part, is not as bad as Seattle is during rush hour... But there are times where it's worse.  I hit the tollway to head up to Plano... This is a lovely little racket they have going here.... Not only do you have to pay to get on it, you have to pay to get OFF it!

I was cracking up listening to a radio station that was promoting square dance lessons.  It almost seemed surreal listening to it, you don't hear something like that in Seattle.

I got to about Richardson before the traffic got so slow that I wanted to get off and hit side streets... So I took and exit and navigated up towards Plano.... I called Jim and he talked me in to where he was..  Got the chance to check out his 10th Anniversary Firehawk Trans Am.  MAN, what a sweet car!  Right now it's running open headers and no cats, so its LLLLLOUD!!  Sounds awesome, though.

I dropped off the Alero at Jim's place, and we went to meet up with the others at a place called Carrabas.... Crazy group of guys, a lot of fun to party with.  Wish I remembered everyone's names... I'm terrible with that kind of thing. On the way there, Jim got the chance to show a Mustang GT what was up... smoked him pretty bad.  That car sounds evil at full throttle!

We stayed there for a few drinks, then it was off to a place called "Cowboys"...  it was "college night" there, which meant it was 18 and up.  This club used to be a K-mart, so it's gigantic..  There's like 10 bars inside of it, and a huge dance floor.  There were tons of women there, but I'd say the vast majority of them were under the drinking age.... Hmmm... a little too young for me. We met up with Eric (MorterForker) and Chris (Knight7) there as well.  Jay, one of the guys with our group, made me down a big ass Jack & Coke..  So by the time I left there, I had a pretty good buzz going.

It was getting late, and a couple of the guys had to work in the morning... So it was time to go home... Jim was gracious enough to let me crash on his couch... Thanks a ton, man!  Everyone in Texas has been so hospitable, it's making my trip all that much more pleasurable...

Dunno about tomorrow.  I might hang in Dallas for a while, or might just head to Houston in the morning.  I'll just have to wait and see what tomorrow brings!
